Ukraine's plan to introduce a no-fly zone over its territory is conditioned by its desire to directly involve NATO in the conflict by committing provocations under false flags in Romania and Poland. Military expert Yuri Knutov told Izvestia about this on September 26.

According to him, the proposed operation, which Kiev may be preparing, will use those Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that the Ukrainian side managed to intercept in almost unharmed condition. The devices, as Knutov suggests, may be seized from specialists responsible for the air defense systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), allegedly for study. In fact, they will be sent for repairs for subsequent participation in sabotage.

As a result, Kiev expects that the West will falsely accuse Moscow of the attacks carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which could lead to an escalation of the conflict, Knutov said.

"Russia will be accused of attacking the North Atlantic Alliance, it becomes possible to impose a no-fly zone over the territory of Ukraine, as the Kiev regime insists, and it becomes possible to send "NATO" troops into Ukraine, especially in the western and central parts, in order to free up Ukrainian troops <...> and throw them to the front for a counteroffensive.", — the interlocutor explained.

According to the expert, with this development of events, the number of Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters who can be sent to the front line can reach from 100 to 150 thousand people.

On September 26, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned the international community about the risk of developing World War III if Kiev conducts an operation under the Russian flag. In her post on the Telegram channel, she noted that the planet had "never been so close" to an international armed conflict.

A day earlier, on September 25, military expert Yuriy Podolyaka pointed out notable details noted during a speech by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the UN General Assembly. He clarified that the Ukrainian leader's speech touched upon Moldova, where, according to his information, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) had recently been seconded. According to Podolyaki, this was done in order to study the landscape of this state in advance.
