European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen should urge London to push Ukraine towards peace talks instead of asking China to influence Russia. This was announced on September 24 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

In this way, she reacted to the news that the head of the European Commission held a meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, during which she asked to encourage Russia to participate in the negotiations.

"And Ursula has been lobbying for her place at the negotiating table, which the EU has been hysterically demanding for so many months? Let me remind you. Russia was sitting at the negotiating table back in the spring of 2022, while [former British Prime Minister] Boris Johnson did not take the Kiev regime away from the table," the Telegram channel said.

According to her, the head of the EC should talk with representatives of the United Kingdom, who, "using influence," could "encourage the Banking Sector" to enter into the negotiation process.
