US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, which is taking place in New York on September 23, noted that his good relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, contrary to his expectations, did not affect the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.

"The biggest disappointment is the situation with Russia and Ukraine. I thought it would be the easiest to settle this because of my relationship with Putin, but unfortunately, this relationship meant nothing," RIA Novosti quoted the head of the White House as saying.

It is specified that the corresponding statement was made at a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

On the same day, Trump noted that he was "working tirelessly" to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. He once again emphasized that initially, when he took on this task, he thought it would be easier than it turned out to be.
