There is a need to reduce or completely ban the use of foreign music at sporting events in Russia in order to support Russian culture. This was announced on September 15 by State Duma Deputy Sergei Kolunov.

"It's time to significantly reduce or completely ban foreign music at sporting events in our country. When I come to volleyball matches all the time, I hear inserts of foreign music in between the ball draws. Ours, the Russian one, practically doesn't sound. A similar situation is developing in other sports, including football and hockey," Kolunov told RIA Novosti.

According to the MP, such use of music leads to its popularization. He also recalled that some foreign performers had canceled concerts in Russia altogether.

Kolunov summed up that sports events are a good platform for promoting Russian performers and this should be used.

On September 29, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation published a list of 100 Russian films that should be shown to schoolchildren. According to the Ministry, the main purpose of the recommendations is to use the educational potential of feature films to preserve and strengthen traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.
