In September 2025, Moscow will host the international song contest "Intervision", which could potentially become the "hallmark of Russia". The competition was held in the middle of the 20th century and has been revived in modern Russia. It is planned that artists from more than 20 countries will perform at the event. Russia will be represented by singer Shaman. The venue, time, and full list of speakers are available in the Izvestia article.

What is Intervision, the history of the project

Intervision is an international music competition whose history dates back to the 1960s. Then the organizer was the International Union of Radio and Television (OIRT). The contest was held by analogy with the Eurovision Song Contest, the music award of the European Broadcasting Union, which broke away from the OIRT. Not only the socialist countries close to the Soviet Union, but also Austria, Belgium, Spain, Canada, the Netherlands, Portugal and Finland presented their numbers to the jury. However, after 1980, the festival gradually came to naught.

And in 2025, the launch of Intervision in an updated format was announced. Performers from the BRICS, CIS and other countries are involved in the competition. The organizers promise that the show will become an international venue where different musical cultures will meet — from Eastern Europe to Latin America.

The event is aimed at strengthening cultural ties, mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries through music.

The Intervision contest may become Russia's calling card for many years to come, as, unlike Eurovision, its main goal is cultural exchange, not political factors. This opinion was expressed by Senator Natalia Koshikhina in an interview with TASS journalists. In her opinion, the Intervision project has great potential.
