Artist Safronov spoke about his art installation and its symbolism
On September 13, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Nikas Safronov shared with Izvestia the details of his art installation "You are Art", which includes a fragment of the painting "Spring Love", as well as his thoughts on art.
"It's spring, love, rabbits, birds. I dreamed about it once, because the girl I was dating gave me rabbits, and they prevented me from sleeping," he said.
The artist added that later he dreamed of parrots with rabbit heads, which became the central element of the installation on a large disco ball. The work uses not only the painting of the artist himself, but also additional frescoes. Safronov noted that in the gaze of rabbits and their contemplation "our whole life."
He also noted that the installation can be preserved as an art object in the Museum of Modern Art. He stressed that his work has a historical element, both externally and internally.
"One person paid about $10 million for a cube of bricks. This cube was brought to him and folded. There's probably an idea there," the artist mused about contemporary art.
Safronov said that he is considering the possibility of exhibiting his work in China, India and Switzerland. The artist plans to place an updated installation "You are Art" with a fragment of the painting "Spring Love" in the museums of these countries.
This installation is dedicated to the celebration of the City Day and symbolizes the cultural unity of the BRICS countries and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The inscriptions "Art is here" in the languages of the partner countries of the organizations emphasize the idea of intercultural dialogue.
On September 12, it was reported that a unique exhibition of wristwatches "Camera Time! Cut!". Its visitors are also invited to pay attention to popular films and iconic moments of history.
