- It's just beginning: the series "Moscow does not believe in tears" was shown to the metropolitan audience
One of the most high-profile premieres of the season took place on September 3 in Moscow. The first episodes of the musical melodrama "Moscow does not believe in Tears" were presented at the October cinema in the capital. Everything is just beginning", inspired by the Soviet classics. The red carpet was visited by the directors of the series Zhora Kryzhovnikov and Olga Dolmatovskaya, as well as the actors of the project. How the performer of the main role, Tina Stoilkovich, repeated the fate of her heroine and how in America they know about the Soviet "Moscow does not believe in tears" — in the Izvestia report from the red carpet.
"I came to Moscow at 18, not knowing Russian"
On the day when the mountain ash bonfires are burning, the capital's secular audience rushed to the October cinema for one of the most discussed premieres of the fall — the series "Moscow does not believe in tears. Everything is just beginning" based on the classic painting by Vladimir Menshov. Making remakes is a difficult task, especially if the original has long been a classic. Comparisons and criticism are inevitable. But the interest is also special.

"Moscow does not believe in tears" in 1979 was a huge success — it became a hit at the Soviet box office, and then received recognition from the foreign public (in 1981, the Soviet film won the Oscar in the nomination "Best Foreign Language Film"). The creators of the new project did not literally copy the plot, although it was also based on the script by Valentina Chernykh, but presented it in modern realities and made a musical out of it.
— It was Andrey's idea to make the musical, aka Zhora Gooseberry. When directors and producers like ours are around, and then screenwriters and artists, you can start doing very serious things, not be afraid to lose face and make a story today that once amazed you and the whole country, tell it in a new language, in a new way and discover the endless relevance of the classic plot. Mikhail Vrubel, one of the producers of the project, told Izvestia.
Olga Dolmatovskaya joined Zhora Kryzhovnikov in the director's chair. They were among the first to appear on the carpet of the premiere show. Next are his main stars. Young actress Tina Stojilkovic played the main role. For her, the plot turned out to be personal.
— I can feel this story on my skin! I know how it feels! Russian Russian I came to Moscow at the age of 18 from Belgrade to study, not knowing the Russian language or anything about Russian culture. It was very difficult for me! At one point, I was broken by the fact that nothing was working out: I was in debt, I didn't have a job. I thought that was it. I bought a one-way ticket to Serbia. But the day before the flight, I received an offer from the theater. I realized that if I gave up even a small opportunity, I would betray myself and my dreams," Tina Stoilkovich told Izvestia.
Moscow still doesn't believe in tears in the film. At the dawn of the noughties, Ksyusha arrives to conquer the capital with a five-year-old child in her arms. There is no turning back — there is an abusive husband there. And in the capital, there is no home of her own, no connections, but loyal friends quickly appear — a diligent but clumsy medical student Olya (Anastasia Talyzina) and a glamorous blonde Masha, who dreams of marrying a foreigner (blogger Maria Kamova, known under the pseudonym Masha). The path to fulfillment of desires does not promise to be easy, but after 20 years, fate gives them another chance at happiness. The cast is changing after the time jump — now Marina Alexandrova is on the screen, for whom this is the second big high—profile project in a few weeks (in August, the series "Breathe" was released - the winner of the Pilot festival), Yulia Topolnitskaya and Valeria Astapova. All of them appeared at the premiere.
— My husband worked in St. Petersburg, and I moved to the capital alone. It was a big city where I felt like a little girl and didn't understand what I was doing here at all! But over time, Moscow became my second home," Yulia Topolnitskaya recalled in an interview with Izvestia, who now posed on the premiere carpet in the company of Igor Chekhov's husband.
"Everyone in America knows this movie!"
The male cast of the series Moscow was also tested for strength. American Daniel Barnes, who played a foreign admirer of one of the heroines, has been in Russia for a long time, but he still can't get used to some everyday things, but the Soviet classics are close to him.
— Everyone in America knows this movie. He won the Oscar! I watched it on a CD with subtitles even before I had any thoughts of moving to Moscow. The fact that it's a different culture, a different mentality, didn't bother me. This is a universal theme. Dreams and hopes are clear to everyone. And this is very relevant today. Why do we still read Chekhov or Shakespeare? It's about us. And Daniel believes in tears! What tests my strength in Moscow? This is when the hot water is turned off in the summer! — he told Izvestia before the show.
Other stars of the series appeared on the track: Ivan Yankovsky with his wife Diana Pozharskaya, Ruzil Minekaev with his wife Aziza, Andrey Maksimov, Polina Gukhman in the company of Grigory Vernik, the general producer of NMG Studio, which participated in the production of the project, Fedor Bondarchuk. Later, from the stage, he announced plans to direct part of the advertising budget to help cinema veterans.
— We would really like this premiere today, and the whole series "Moscow does not believe in tears. Everything is just beginning" has become not only a big event in the cinematic year of our country, but also attracted a new wave of people who will be interested in the classics of Soviet and Russian cinema and those people who made this movie. We would really like to convert this attention into targeted support for these people. We have decided to direct part of the advertising budget to help cinema veterans through Nikita Sergeevich Mikhalkov's 12 Foundation, which has been systematically dealing with this issue for a long time, and we are glad and happy to be a part of this movement," he said.
The musical melodrama "Moscow does not believe in tears" will be released in the online cinema Wink on September 4. In addition, on September 6, the first episode will be shown on Bolotnaya Square as part of the Summer in Moscow project. Before the show, there will be an autograph session with Ruzil Minekaev and Masha.
