Nebenzia announced Russia's condemnation of Israel's strike on Qatar
Russia strongly condemns the attack carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on the territory of Qatar. This was announced on September 11 by Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya.
"Russia strongly condemns the attack carried out by Israel on September 9, <...> which was targeted by senior members of the leadership of the Palestinian Hamas movement who were there," he said, speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
The permanent representative also added that Moscow considers the Israeli attack to be a "blatant attack" that could lead to "the most serious consequences," and also calls on the IDF to abandon "reckless" actions.
The attack on the Hamas negotiating delegation, which arrived in the capital of Qatar to discuss Washington's proposed strategy for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, took place on September 9. The incident was condemned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, UN Secretary General Anthony Guterres and members of the UN Security Council.
US President Donald Trump, who unsuccessfully tried to warn Qatar about the impending attack, criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's actions on September 11.
