Poland has restricted flights along the border with Ukraine and Belarus
Poland has restricted traffic along the border with Belarus and Ukraine. This was reported on September 11 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA).
"At the request of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces <...>, air traffic restrictions will be introduced in the eastern part of Poland in the form of an EP R129 restriction zone," the statement said.
The restrictions have already entered into force and will remain in effect until December 9th of this year. It clarifies that flights in the border area are prohibited, with the exception of manned aircraft operating in accordance with the flight plan with appropriate transponders and maintaining two-way communication with the air authorities.
Earlier, on September 10, the Onet portal announced the closure of four airports in Warsaw, Rzeszow and Lublin amid violations of the country's airspace by drones (UAVs). This information was later confirmed by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. On the same day, the head of the republic, Karol Navrotsky, discussed the incident with US President Donald Trump.
The operational command of the Polish Armed Forces (AF) said that the soldiers managed to eliminate several drones that were allegedly involved in an "act of aggression." A spokeswoman for the Polish Interior Ministry, Karolina Galetska, clarified that a total of 12 drones had been neutralized.
