Trump called on the Emir of Qatar to continue mediation on the settlement in Gaza
US President Donald Trump has called on Qatar's Emir Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani to continue mediation to resolve the conflict in Gaza. This was announced on September 9 in the office of the head of Qatar.
In addition, the US president expressed solidarity with Doha and condemned the Israeli side's violation of the sovereignty of the Arab state.
"The US President highly appreciated Qatar's efforts in the field of mediation between the various parties to the conflicts and called on the emir not to stop participating in the negotiations on a cease—fire in Gaza," TASS quoted the office as saying.
In addition, Trump expressed the opinion that the existing problems can be solved only through diplomacy.
On September 9, a Hamas negotiating delegation was attacked in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The attack occurred as the negotiating team was discussing a U.S.-proposed cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
On the same day, Al Hadath TV channel, citing sources, reported that the head of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Khalil al-Haya, and three other members of the leadership were killed during the Israeli operation. A little later, Hamas denied this information and stated that among those killed in the attack were Khalil al-Haya's son, one of his assistants, as well as a Qatari officer.
The Jerusalem Post newspaper reported that the US government was aware in advance of the planned Israeli attack on Hamas representatives in Qatar and agreed to launch a strike.
