Israel decided to eliminate the leadership of Hamas after yesterday's terrorist attack in Jerusalem, where six people were killed, as well as the deaths of four Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on September 9 in the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel.

"Yesterday, after the terrorist attacks in Jerusalem and Gaza, Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed all security personnel to prepare for the possibility of suppressing the actions of Hamas leaders. The Minister of Defense fully supported this proposal," the statement said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz considered this action fully justified, explaining it by the events that took place on October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants managed to break through the border in southern Israel and massacre a festival in Reims.

Earlier on September 9, it was reported that a Hamas negotiating delegation was attacked by Israel in the Qatari capital of Doha. The attack occurred as the negotiating team was discussing a U.S.-proposed cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. As a result of the attack, the head of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Haya, and three other members of the movement's leadership were killed.

On Monday, September 8, it was reported that two unidentified men opened fire at the Ramot Junction bus stop (on the outskirts of Jerusalem). A day later, the military wing of the radical Palestinian Hamas movement, the Al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in Jerusalem.
