- Final preparations for the Baltika Fest festival are underway near St. Petersburg
Barley from the Russian Federation will boost the brewing industry in Laos, where it was decided to start production of a national drink based on Russian raw materials. More than fifty farms in Russia grow special beer varieties, and there are plans to increase the volume. The industry's prospects will be discussed this weekend at the Baltika Fest food festival.
Despite the spring frosts and summer drought, more than 100 million tons of grain have already been harvested in Russia. It is much more difficult to grow barley for brewing. This is a special variety, it has less protein — that's the only way malt is made, an essential component of beer.
"Malt, more than other ingredients, forms the taste, color and aroma of beer. It is called the "soul" of the drink," said Roman Ishmukhametov, a correspondent for Izvestia.
Thus, 60 farms in 15 regions, located from the Far East to the central part of the Russian Federation, grow the necessary barley.
"These are special varieties that are bred exclusively for brewers with their own properties," explained Igor Matveev, a leading technology expert at Baltika Brewing Company.
It is noted that this particular product, which is made with domestic raw materials and Russian brewers, should be more in stores. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is calculating the mechanism for determining the minimum share.
"I would suggest working on our beer drinks first. Why? Because already the majority of absolute beer producers in the territory of the Russian Federation are actually controlled by Russian enterprises or managed by Russian teams. And here we can definitely safely talk about developing our own beer production," explained Roman Chekushov, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia.
This Saturday, September 13, at the first industry council, experts will discuss the development of brewing. It will be held as part of the Baltika Fest gastronomic festival at the Igora Drive autodrome near St. Petersburg.
"This is a place for a very good mood, because the guests of the festival will have the opportunity to eat delicious food, sit, and enjoy each other's company," said Alexey Titov, General Director of the Igora Drive autodrome.
The chefs who are working on the holiday menu will present the culture and cuisine of different Russian regions, from pilaf to pies with a languid cheek.
"The task is enormous, the responsibility is huge. The project is large, there are a lot of interesting cuisines of various kinds," said Nikita Tsatsyn, regional chef of the Igora resort, Winter's Cottage Park Hotel.
Thousands of guests are waiting on Saturday, September 13 at the motorhome "Igora Drive", where such musical performers and groups as "Disco Accident", Marie Crymbreri and the cult group "Chaif" will perform.
"This festival, the guys came up with it, it's culinary, and we're probably such a nice addition to this festival, there's no need to pull a blanket over yourself, you need to play to the mood of this festival, create a certain atmosphere. Everyone is going to the Baltika Fest, we will be there, the Chaif group," said Vladimir Shakhrin, a rock musician and leader of the Chaif group.
This festival will be the culmination of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Baltika Brewing Company, which throughout all the years of its existence has maintained high standards in everything.
Irina Fedorova, Director of Corporate Relations and Government Relations at the Baltika Brewing Company, told Izvestia on September 7 that people will be able to enjoy a variety of flavors at the Baltika Fest food festival. So, the menu will feature almost 20 culinary masterpieces, including shrimp with garlic and chili, stewed beef brisket, roast beef and grilled sausages with stewed cabbage.
On September 13, the Baltika Fest gastrofestival will be held at the Igora Drive autodrome. The event will be headlined by the legend of Russian rock "Chaif", the cult band of the 1990s and 2000s "Disco Accident" and singer Marie Crymbreri.
Guests can enjoy master classes and gastro shows, food and drinks, as well as live performances and interactive entertainment. Tickets for the gastrofestival can be purchased at the online ticket offices and on the website of the Igora Drive complex.
On September 3, the schedule of the Baltika Fest gastronomic festival was published. It was specified that the opening of the spectator gate will take place at 14:00. From the same time until 21:00, activity points and the beer pong site and the Baltiki industrial zone will be open.
On August 26, the leader of the Chaif group, Vladimir Shakhrin, in a conversation with Izvestia, drew attention to the fact that over the past 30 years, Russia has become very gastronomic, as events such as Baltika Fest bring people together across the country.
