The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has sent a plane with humanitarian aid to earthquake-stricken Afghanistan. The agency announced this on September 5 in its Telegram channel.

"By order of the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, an IL-76 departmental plane took off from Zhukovsky airport near Moscow. There are 20 tons of food on board for the population affected by the devastating earthquake," the publication says.

It is specified that the first batch of food was sent on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and on behalf of the Government of the country.

Earlier, on September 4, an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded in Afghanistan. It was clarified that the seismic event was located at a depth of 10 km. At the same time, the epicenter of the tremors was located at a distance of 41 km northeast of the city of Jalalabad with a population of about 200 thousand people.
