Anton Siluanov was born on April 12, 1963 in Moscow into a family of financiers. His father, German Siluanov, held senior positions in the Ministry of Finance of the USSR and later in Russia. Yanina Siluanova's mother worked at the Finance and Statistics publishing house, then in the editorial department of the State University of the Ministry of Finance of Russia. The current minister has a younger brother, Vsevolod, whose activities are also related to the financial sector.

Education

The choice of profession of the head of the Ministry of Finance was largely influenced by family traditions. In 1985, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Finance and Economics (IFEI, now the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation) with a degree in finance and credit, continuing his postgraduate studies. In 1994, he defended his dissertation on the topic "Budget policy of the state in the context of transition to market relations: the example of the Russian Federation", and in 2012 he became a Doctor of Economics.

Early career

Anton Siluanov started working immediately after graduation. After graduating from the institute in 1985, he asked to be sent to the Ministry of Finance. However, at the beginning of his professional career, he was drafted into the army and served in the KGB of the USSR as a financier. Upon his return to the Ministry, he took the position of a leading economist, then deputy head of the department. In the late 1990s, Siluanov headed the Department of Macroeconomic Policy and Banking, and later the Department of Inter-budgetary Relations of the Ministry of Finance of Russia. Later, for almost six years, he was Deputy Minister of Finance. Moreover, he was appointed to this position twice.

The post of Minister and the main achievements

In 2011, Siluanov assumed the post of head of the Ministry of Finance, continuing his work in the field of financial policy, and also joined the Security Council of the Russian Federation. In 2024, the State Duma re-approved his candidacy as finance minister. Among the main achievements of this period are the implementation of a number of innovative projects in the field of the digital economy, the reform of the pension system and the successful management of the budget system in the face of economic sanctions.

The department under Siluanov's management is actively involved in the process of stabilizing the Russian economy and ensuring national financial security. The minister himself is considered one of the most experienced and influential politicians in the field of finance, which allows him to remain one of the key figures in the modern Russian economy.

Awards and titles

Anton Siluanov has received numerous awards for his long-term work and achievements in the field of economics and finance. Among them are the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, I degree (2007), the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree (2011) and the Order of the III degree (2013). His work has also been repeatedly awarded with commendations and certificates of honor from the Ministry of Finance and the President of the Russian Federation.

Personal life

The head of the Ministry of Finance has two adult sons, Alexey and Gleb. At the same time, there is no confirmed information about the name of the minister's wife and her employment in open sources. In an interview, the minister said that his family plays a key role for him, and he always maintains close ties with his loved ones. In his spare time, Anton Siluanov enjoys skiing, spearfishing and motorcycles. He participated in motorcycle races and even came to work on a motorcycle several times.
