The President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Shokhin commented on the presence of Chinese companies in the Russian market

Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), said on September 4 that it was important for foreign companies to return and establish healthy competition between Russian and Chinese companies in the Russian market without relying on their European counterparts.

"The expansion of Chinese companies in the supply of equipment, machines, and computing equipment <... It has such a scale that you can forget about European companies," Shokhin said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025).

He noted that the expansion of Chinese companies is on a grand scale, which creates "unfair competition" with Russian manufacturers. This may put the import substitution process at risk.

"For investment growth, the key rate should be below 10%"

Earlier in the day, Shokhin announced that the Central Bank would lower its key interest rate next week. He stressed the importance of using this opportunity to invest and restore projects that were previously conceived, but were suspended due to an increase in the key rate to 21%.
