Notaries reported a sharp increase in out-of-court alimony agreements
Alimony agreements are growing in popularity in Russia — in the first half of 2025, 17.5 thousand such documents were certified by notaries, which is 20% more than in the same period last year. This was reported to Izvestia by the Federal Notary Chamber (FNP).
"The alimony agreement helps to ensure the protection of children's rights to receive financial support in cases where parents are divorcing," the FNP explained.
The organization clarified that if the former spouse stops transferring money, the agreement allows you to apply for foreclosure directly to the bailiffs, bypassing court proceedings.
In the first half of the year, Russian bailiffs increased the volume of alimony debts collected by 21%. In 2024, law enforcement agencies initiated 54,000 criminal cases for non-payment of alimony.
