The Russian Foreign Ministry announced plans to send humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Moscow is considering sending urgent humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in connection with the earthquake. This was announced on September 1 on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

They stressed that the Russian side expressed sincere condolences to the Afghan people, as well as to the families of those killed and injured in the tragedy.

"The issue of sending urgent humanitarian aid to Afghanistan is being worked out through the Russian relevant agencies," the message says.

Earlier in the day, the Afghan authorities appealed to Russia to help in the aftermath of the earthquake.

The 6.0 magnitude earthquake in Afghanistan was reported earlier that day by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center. According to the US Geological Survey, five aftershocks ranging in magnitude from 4.3 to 5.2 occurred in the same area of the country.

Later it was reported that the death toll as a result of the natural disaster increased to 800 people, more than 2.8 thousand people were injured. Helicopters were sent to participate in rescue operations.
