The artists confessed to Bezrukov
A rare theater opens the season with a cabbage patch today. Such a start is already a tradition for MGT under the leadership of Sergey Bezrukov. The troupe met the 13th season in the scenery of the play "Don Juan. A new myth." Padre Sergei Bezrukov, accompanied by two matushkas, stepped onto the dimly lit stage, at the back of which an old dilapidated temple rested. The artistic director sat on a bench behind a wooden screen and prepared to absolve his sins.
The theater is a temple for the artist. But it is not the angels who serve in it, but the actors. "I confess, Padre, I was promiscuous in my relationships and degrees, I skipped the clean—up day," one complained. "I confess, Padre, they took the festive vestments of Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden in the temple and messed up on the side," another lamented. "Padre, send us pills, cutlets, diapers, panties, panties, dresses," the third asked. Padre Sergius absolved everyone of their sins in the name of Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky and instructed them not to sit down with their colleagues and not to make a choice in favor of cinema. He also repented of the latter.
The artists did not stop there. The youth of the Provincial sang "Hallelujah", screwing in all the pain of a difficult profession. To whom the costume is too small, who from the third Christmas tree in the seventh row rose to the role of the shadow of the main character, who broke the decoration — everyone was forgiven and blessed with laughter from the audience.
And the newly arrived five artists, among whom are Denis Klyaver's son and Ilya Oleinikov's grandson Timofey, were handed sledgehammers and buckets of paint and explained: we need to work in the temple.
Sergei Zhukov is writing a musical about the war
In the last, 12th season, MGT not only released seven premieres, visited 14 cities of Russia, and received the status of a federal theater. Sergey Bezrukov is building momentum and preparing nine new performances, most of which are musical.
— Yes, we deliberately chose this particular direction. We have a very good troupe. Most of them sing professionally and play various instruments. And there is also a fantastic orchestra. I generally believe that an artist should be multifunctional: not only play drama on stage, but also sing, dance, and use musical instruments. I can proudly say that the Provincial Theater troupe is exactly like that," Sergei Bezrukov said in an interview with Izvestia.
The play "The Eldest Son"
On September 17, the first premiere of the 13th season will take place — "The Eldest Son" directed by Grigory Lifanov with Leonid Gromov and Artyom Gubin in the main roles. And a month later, on October 16, there will be another one — the musical "You are my only One" directed by Nina Chusova. The author of the idea and the composer of the project was Sergey Zhukov. And the main role in the play will be played by his son Angel.
A musical performance about the war through the eyes of a child awaits the audience. Especially for skeptics, the creators clarify: Sergey Zhukov not only successfully assembles stadiums with the band "Hands Up", but also writes deep lyrical music. Zhukov himself will appear on stage in one of the roles.

The authors have written a modern story in the popular genre of historical fantasy. There, the main characters of the play are modern teenagers who have fallen into the terrible reality of the Great Patriotic War.
— Sergey wrote amazing music. I think it will be a memorable event in the theatrical life of the city and the country. The main roles will be played by children: Arseniy Mikhalchenko and Angel. Angel is a good artist and sings wonderfully," Bezrukov noted at the gathering.
— We want our viewers to think about important values. How to remain human and yourself. It may seem strange to some that Sergey Zhukov is involved in this project. It seems like where is pop music and where is the Great Patriotic War. But I assure you, it's great music. It is important for me to convey to the younger generation what war is and how to keep alive in this terrible reality," director Nina Chusova confessed to Izvestia.
Another surprise is a hip—hop performance based on Gogol - "Inspector Freestyle". The director will be Yuri Kvyatkovsky, and Andrei Shchetkin and Evgeny Syrkin are announced to play the main roles.
— I'm very interested in what it will be. But I can tell you that children like rap-style performances, and adults are not bothered by such treatment of classics. For example, at a Large children's Festival where children are on the jury, the winner was the play "Crime and Punishment" in exactly this style. I think we need to develop the rap trend on stage and thereby keep the generations connected," Bezrukov told Izvestia.
The Greek will breed frogs in the Provincial
In the new year, Anna Gorushkina will direct "Twelfth Night" based on William Shakespeare. Kirill Novyshev, Ilya Noskov, Andrey Shchetkin are announced to play the main roles. And in March, director Dmitry Belov will present the musical play "An Ordinary Miracle" based on the play by Evgeny Schwartz to the music of Grigory Gladkov.
Dmitry Dyuzhev will return to the Provincial Theater with the revived play "I found a scythe on a stone." The collaboration with the Greek director Vasilios Samourkas, who graduated from the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece and the Directing Department of GITIS, continues a series of experiments. He will stage Aristophanes' comedy "The Frogs" at the Provincial Theater.
— If, Vasya, you manage to breed "Frogs" on our Small Stage and we will croak well in Greek, then we will move to the Big Stage, — Bezrukov promised Samurkas. The premiere is on April 16.

The artistic director himself will appear on stage in May in the play "The Marriage of Figaro" by Pierre Beaumarchais directed by Alla Reshetnikova. Bezrukov will play Count Almaviva, and Stepan Kulikov will play the role of Figaro.
The theater has planned two premieres for the orchestra: for the New Year and for International Women's Day.
The play "The Thief of Baghdad and Black Magic"
In addition, the troupe will continue its festival life. From September 28 to November 14, the VIII Big Children's Festival will be held in Moscow and St. Petersburg, which will open with the performance of the Mayakovsky Theater "The Thief of Bagdad and Black Magic". The theater opened the new season on the same day, August 29, with one of the last premieres of the play "Don Juan. A new Myth" directed by Maxim Melamedov with Anton Khabarov in the title role.
