The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow has temporarily placed under house arrest the head of the autonomous non-profit organization "Competence Center for the Development of the Urban Environment of the Belgorod Region" Sergey Serebryansky. This was announced on August 27 by one of the participants in the trial.

Serebryansky is a defendant in the criminal case of Vladimir Bazarov, Acting Deputy Governor of the Kursk region, on embezzlement of funds for the construction of defensive structures in the Belgorod region.

"The court granted the request of the investigation and chose a preventive measure for Serebryansky in the form of house arrest for a period until October 25," TASS quoted the participant as saying.

Alexander Khinshtein, the acting governor of the Kursk region, announced on August 25 during a meeting of the regional government that Bazarov had been detained. He noted that the detention is related to the past work of the acting deputy governor, who, before assuming his current position, served as Vice Governor of the Belgorod Region for construction since 2021. According to preliminary data, the possible reason for the man's detention was embezzlement from the budget allocated for the construction of infrastructure facilities in the region.
