Sheravgan Kunjumov, a foreigner who attacked police officers in the north of Moscow, is a member of the ISIL terrorist group (IS, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). This was reported on August 27 by the Telegram channel 112.

It is noted that the 25-year-old man joined the ranks of the Islamists back in 2017. Together with other members of the group, he was preparing terrorist attacks in the regions of Russia. Kunjumov himself manufactured explosive devices so that the terrorist cell's combat wing could later use them on transport and in shopping and entertainment centers.

"The criminals were preparing attacks for almost the entire 2017 year until the end of summer. They had machine guns, pistols, and grenades in their arsenal. But on August 10, security forces found their cache and detained all the militants within a couple of days," the media's Telegram channel says.

All the band members received serious sentences. Kunjumov, having served 8 years in a high-security penal colony, was recently released.

The attack on law enforcement officers in Moscow became known earlier in the day. The man threw two molotov cocktails at GBU Zhilishchnik and at the Interior Ministry car. There are no casualties. The circumstances of the incident are being established.

Later, the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation announced the initiation of a criminal case against a foreigner who attacked police officers under Article 317 of the Criminal Code ("Assault on the life of a law enforcement officer").
