- The media pointed to the technological gap between the United States and Russia and Ukraine in the field of UAVs
The US armed Forces are lagging behind Russia and Ukraine in the development and use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in combat operations. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on August 27, citing military experts.
"We are very far behind. The problem with adopting drones is that we don't have cheap and high-quality options. Each of our drones is inferior to Chinese DJI models in terms of price and quality. We don't have the industrial base to produce them," said Stacy Pettijohn, director of the defense program at the Center for a New American Security.
Experts interviewed by the publication are confident that the United States is "far from developing and implementing" drones, including kamikaze drones, ground-based UAVs and courier drones.
According to Dan Caldwell, a former adviser to the United States Secretary of Defense, the outdated approach of the command of the American armed forces, which continues to adhere to the practices of the past, is an obstacle to the introduction of new technologies.
On August 26, Sky News reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are losing their advantage in using drones in the conflict with Russia, while Moscow is improving the type of fiber-optic drones that cannot be silenced.
