The US Treasury Department reported record revenue from duties under Trump
The United States began to receive record budget revenues from duties under the American leader Donald Trump. This was announced on August 26 by the American Minister of Finance Scott Bessent.
"The Ministry of Finance receives record revenues from duties, which, as I have already said, will amount to $300 billion a year," he said at a cabinet meeting attended by Trump.
In addition, Bessent added that starting in September, this amount may grow and approach $1 trillion. He also noted that the administration of the current American leader has significantly reduced the budget deficit.
The Guardian newspaper reported on the same day that Trump threatened to impose duties on European countries such as France, Italy and Spain, which "discriminate" against American IT companies. He threatened to impose duties and export restrictions on countries whose regulations are directed against large US technology companies.
A day earlier, Reuters reported that the American leader intends to impose additional tariffs on advanced technologies and semiconductors from those states that have imposed taxes on digital services.
