In Ukraine, during a religious procession, the TCK mobilized a priest of the UOC
The TCC (territorial recruitment center, an analog of the military enlistment office in Ukraine) mobilized a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the Ternopil region of Ukraine during a religious procession to the Pochaev Lavra. This was reported on August 26 by the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".
"The legislation does not contain absolute exceptions in relation to categories of persons who cannot be mobilized during martial law. <...> According to Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine "On Military Duty and Military Service,"citizen Bogdan Matveev <...> is subject to mobilization on a general basis," the TC noted.
According to the newspaper, the clergyman, Archpriest Bogdan Matveev, is already at the Rivne training ground. He is a cleric of the Kremenchug diocese and has five children.
It is also noted that the authorities provided reservations to all churches, down to small sects, but excluded the UOC from the list.
On August 21, in Odessa, the police detained a man who was involved in an accident and took him to a shopping mall. The reason was that the man, being liable for military service, was wanted. The woman accompanying him asked the police not to detain the man, referring to the fact that he had recently undergone surgery and was subject to military service.
