Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased as a result of the emergency at the Central Children's Store. He posted the corresponding message on August 24 in the MAX messenger.

"My condolences to the loved ones of the deceased. Moscow doctors promptly provide assistance to the victims," the mayor wrote.

Sobyanin added that the investigative authorities are working to determine the causes of the incident. According to preliminary data, the emergency occurred due to a technical malfunction of the equipment.

The explosion, probably from a gas cylinder, which occurred on the third floor of the building, became known earlier in the day. Visitors to the Central Medical Center were evacuated. As a result of the emergency, three people were injured. Two of them were hospitalized, and another was treated on the spot.
