Heavy rains in the municipality of Morelos caused flooding. This was announced on August 23 by the newspaper El Tiempo MX.

The rain started on Friday and lasted until early Saturday morning. The downpour affected such cities of the municipality as Cuernavaca, Xochitepec, Emiliano Zapata and Huitec.

"In the La Jolla area, the Mexican Red Cross search and rescue team, which is engaged in search and rescue operations in collapsed buildings, evacuated 28 trapped people. The height of the water reached about 1.8 m, which made it difficult to access this area," the article says.

The Morelos authorities announced that 43 residential buildings and streets of the municipality were seriously damaged. Search and rescue operations and evacuation of residents from affected settlements are already underway to support the population.

Earlier, on August 20, torrential rains flooded the Pakistani city of Karachi. Eight people died as a result of the floods.
