The remnants of Hurricane Erin raging in the United States may form a cyclone that will reach Russia and lead to warming, Marina Makarova, a leading employee of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, said on August 23.

"It will get warmer in the last days of August. One of the forecast options is the remnants of Hurricane Erin. It remains very powerful, and it will still circle between the British Isles and Greenland. According to one option, a cyclone may form on its remnants, which will reach Europe and possibly pass just north of Moscow," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

In this scenario, more rain will fall in the northern regions. At the same time, it is expected to be warm in Moscow.

On August 21, Mikhail Leus, a specialist at the Phobos Weather Center, announced that August had entered the top 10 rainiest months in Moscow in 25 years. He noted that in the Moscow region, the most precipitation fell in the northern half of the region. According to the meteorologist, September weather has settled in Moscow and the region: rains and a noticeable cooling are expected in the region.
