US President Donald Trump ordered the wall on the border with Mexico to be painted black to heat it in order to deprive illegal migrants of the opportunity to climb over it. This was announced on August 20 by the United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Christie Noem.

"This was done specifically at the request of the president, who understands that with hot temperatures down here, when something is painted black, it gets even warmer, and it will be even more difficult for people to climb," the New York Post quoted her as saying.

According to Noem, by such actions, the United States is urged not to enter the country illegally. Additional technologies, including cameras and sensors, will also be used to prevent illegal border crossings.

In addition, the US Secretary of Homeland Security noted that black paint will help prevent rusting of the steel structure.

On August 14, Noem reported that about 1.6 million migrants living illegally in the United States had left the country since the beginning of Trump's second presidential term. Such actions led to a reduction in the burden on American educational institutions and medical institutions, allowed citizens to retain the opportunity to get more jobs, and also marked "safer streets."
