Fico noted the impossibility for Ukraine to become a member of NATO
Ukraine cannot become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO). This was stated by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.
"The first basic condition for ending the conflict is the understanding that Ukraine cannot become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance," he said during a video message following the online summit of European Union (EU) leaders, which took place to discuss the meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
Fico added that it is impossible to resolve the situation in Ukraine without discussing territorial changes. He also noted that the process initiated by US President Donald Trump to resolve this issue can be considered as a "huge personal achievement."
In addition, Fico expressed regret about the need for the EU to wait for steps from the American leader to end the conflict. According to him, this crisis cannot be resolved by military means, and the nuclear power, which is the Russian Federation, cannot be defeated.
