At least 29 people were injured in the Pozo district of the Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi as a result of a magnitude 6.0 earthquake. This was announced on August 17 by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
"An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred in the Poso district of Central Sulawesi province. <...> According to preliminary data, 29 people were injured," a statement posted on the website said.
According to the agency, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 18 km northwest of Poso, 82 km northeast of Siga, 89 km northwest of North Morwali, 93 km southeast of Palu city and 1.6 thousand km northeast of Jakarta. As a result of the incident, 13 victims were hospitalized, the condition of two of them is assessed as critical.
According to preliminary information, there are no fatalities. No tsunami threat has been announced.
On August 10, an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred in the western part of Turkey. The epicenter of the tremors was in Balikesir province at a depth of 11 km. It was clarified that the earthquake was felt for about 20-30 seconds in at least 10 districts in the west of the country.
