American leader Donald Trump personally met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the plane ramp upon arrival in Alaska for the Russian-American summit.

At the meeting, the heads of state shook hands.

Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the central topic of the talks would be the Ukrainian conflict. He stressed that the broader tasks of ensuring peace and security will also be touched upon.

Trump expressed confidence in the possibility of signing a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine in the coming months. Commenting on this issue, the US president stated the need for territorial concessions.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also noted that Moscow and Washington are ready to discuss "the most pressing issues." At the same time, according to the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, it would be a mistake to "get ahead of ourselves" and try to predict the outcome of the Anchorage summit.
