- The Russian Foreign Ministry reported on possible attempts by Ukraine to disrupt the summit in Alaska
There are three possible directions for Ukraine's provocations in order to prevent the holding of the Russian-US summit in Alaska. This was stated on August 15 by the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik.
"There are many direct and indirect confirmations that Kiev will use all the arsenal available to it in order to either disrupt the negotiation process as much as possible or create an extremely negative background towards Russia as a participant in the negotiations," TASS quoted the ambassador as saying.
Probably, the first step will be to increase attacks on civilian targets. Miroshnik stressed that the number of such attacks has almost doubled, which demonstrates the disagreement of the Ukrainian side with the possible settlement of the conflict through diplomatic means.
The second area is Kiev's operations "under a false flag." In his opinion, this is reflected in the use of Western media to spread information compromising the Russian Federation.
"We are talking about using Western media to disperse information that provokes or compromises Russia. We can in no way influence Ukraine, for example, to blow up its civilian facilities," said Miroshnik.
The third type of provocation is attempts to break through the front line and invade Russian territory, including its historical lands, in order to create a foothold. The purpose of such actions is to demonstrate the combat capability of the Ukrainian militants and to facilitate the formation of Kiev's negotiating positions.
The diplomat noted that despite Kiev's statements about its desire for peace, its actions indicate its intention to support the conflict.
On August 14, State Duma deputy Yuri Shvytkin announced Ukraine's attempts to disrupt a meeting between Russia and the United States in Alaska. He noted that in the current situation it is especially important to realize the importance of the upcoming negotiations and demonstrate unity.
On August 14, Trump pointed out the importance of meeting with Putin in Alaska for both Russia and the United States. The head of the White House also expressed hope that the meeting with his Russian counterpart would go well.
Putin will meet with Trump on August 15 at the Air Force Base USA Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. According to Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the summit will begin around 11:30 a.m. local time (22:30 Moscow time). The central topic of the meeting will be the conflict in Ukraine.
