American leader Donald Trump called the former Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) and Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg and discussed the Nobel Peace Prize with him. This was reported on August 14 by Dagens Næringsliv (DN) newspaper, citing sources.

It is clarified that the US president discussed with Stoltenberg the issue of duties on goods from Norway, but also raised the issue of the award several times.

In addition, the publication noted that at the moment it is not known whether Trump made receiving the Nobel Peace Prize one of the conditions for concluding the most favorable tariff agreement with the Norwegian side.

On August 13, the White House announced that the governments of seven countries supported the candidacy of the US president for the Nobel Peace Prize. It is specified that Trump's candidacy was supported in Armenia, Israel, Cambodia, Azerbaijan, Gabon, Pakistan and Rwanda.
