"Russia has always been attracted by the fact that it is a cold country"
The K-pop group Young Posse came to Russia for the first time in August and gave two concerts for fans of the genre — in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The girls from South Korea were delighted not only with the love of fans on the other side of the earth, but also with the beauty of the capital, beef stroganoff with sour cream and the Russian version of Korean cuisine. Now they dream of returning here in the winter, and also recording a joint song with the performers of the hit "Sigma Boy". The band members told about this in an interview with Izvestia.
"This is really the taste of Korea!"
— This is your first time in Russia. We know that some of you have started learning Russian on purpose. How is it given to you? Can you say something to your Russian fans?
— I love you! I love you! I love you! Hello everyone (they speak Russian)!
— What impression did Moscow make on you? Have you managed to get acquainted with the local sights?
— All the way from the airport to the hotel, we did not look up from the window. Moscow is a very beautiful city! So far we haven't had much free time, but we hope that we will have time to walk around Tverskaya. We would also really like to see St. Basil's Cathedral.
— Our countries have very different gastronomic cultures. Did you like our cuisine?
- yes! We had beef stroganoff at the hotel last night. We really liked the meat, and sour cream went so well with this dish! And we especially liked the size of the portions — they are very large! And at the concert venue, we already ate Korean food, which is made in Russia. We were shocked by how similar these dishes are to the original cuisine and how delicious it is! We tried local bulgogi and a meat set. This is really the taste of Korea!
"We have never seen such strong support anywhere"
— K-pop is very popular in Russia, artists from South Korea come to us regularly. Are you familiar with the work of our performers?
— Unfortunately, we don't know many Russian artists yet, but in the future, if we have the opportunity, we would love to record a song with one of them. By the way, for example, the Russian song "Sigma Boy" is very popular in our social networks now. And we know the girls who perform it. We did various challenges together and danced to this track. We would like to cooperate with them. We can even sing: "Sigma, Sigma boy, Sigma boy, Sigma boy" (laugh).
— You debuted just a few years ago. What did you spend the first fee on?
— For the first salary, one of us bought a MacBook. In the future, we want to help our parents and do something good for them. We also want to buy an old-fashioned camera.
— Are you planning to come to Russia again? For example, in winter, if you are not afraid of cold and snow.
— Russia has always attracted us precisely because it is a cold country. We would really like to return here in winter. I want to experience it! There are no specific plans, but we would be happy to return in the near future if we have the opportunity. Moreover, we have not seen such strong support anywhere else.
The South Korean band Young Posse debuted in the fall of 2023 with the mini-album Macaroni Cheese. It consists of five participants. The team relies on complex clip concepts, each of which is characterized by an abundance of graphics and special effects. On August 9 and 10, the band performed concerts in Russia for the first time — in Moscow at the MTS Live Summer venue in Luzhniki and in St. Petersburg at the A2 club.
