In the USA, a pensioner was hospitalized with sodium bromide poisoning, and then ended up in a psychiatric hospital after the advice of the ChatGPT neural network to adhere to a bromide diet. This was announced on August 9 by the Gizmodo portal.

"The man developed bromide poisoning, which he took for three months on the recommendation of ChatGPT. Fortunately, after treatment, his condition improved and he recovered successfully. <...> Doctors describe in detail how the man experienced psychosis caused by poison," the publication says.

It is noted that ChatGPT suggested that the victim replace salt with sodium bromide. Three months after sticking to the diet, the man arrived at the emergency department and told the staff about a possible poisoning by a neighbor.

"Although some of his physical examinations were in order, the man became agitated and paranoid, refusing to drink the water he was given. <...> He also experienced visual and auditory hallucinations, and soon developed a full—blown psychotic episode," Gizmodo added.

Already in a psychiatric hospital, it was found that the symptoms are associated with an excess of bromine in the body.

At the moment, according to the portal, the man has been discharged from the hospital.

Earlier, on July 15, about 60 people received food poisoning after a wedding in the Turkish city of Urfa. Wedding guests complained of abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting after tasting the wedding cake. At the same time, the newlyweds who did not taste the cake did not get poisoned. The dangerous treat was sent to the police station for analysis.
