- The heads of NABU and SAP may be replaced by persons controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
The Ukrainian authorities may replace the heads of anti-corruption bodies. This was announced on Friday, August 8, by Alexander Klimenko, head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO).
"Look, after the failed attack, we made conclusions — it is not possible. Society does not want these institutions to be clearly legally dependent, so the next step is to change their leaders, to make it simple, to put dependent leaders. This will simplify the situation," said the head of SAP, during the summing up of the work on the air of the media center of Ukraine.
The head of NABU, Semyon Krivonos, in turn, noted that such narratives are already being traced.
Earlier, on July 23, the law on limiting the powers of the NABU and SAPO came into force. A day earlier, mass protests began in Ukraine in connection with its adoption.
On July 24, more than 9,000 people held large-scale rallies in Kiev against the persecution of anti-corruption services. At that time, the protesters declared their readiness to take to the streets every day if their demands to the authorities were not taken into account. Actions were also held in other cities of Ukraine.
Later, on July 31, the Verkhovna Rada voted for a law restoring the independence of NABU and SAP.
