China considers it legitimate and legitimate to import oil from Russia and intends to act in accordance with its national interests. This was reported by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commenting on the statement by US President Donald Trump about the possible imposition of duties on Russian oil supplies to China.

"It is legitimate and legitimate for China to conduct normal economic, trade and energy cooperation with all countries of the world, including Russia," the department noted to Bloomberg.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also added that Beijing will continue to take "reasonable energy security measures."

The day before, Trump announced new sanctions against Russia's trading partners. At the same time, the politician did not rule out that the United States could subsequently cancel duties of 25% against India for the purchase of Russian oil. In addition, restrictions on trade with Russia may be imposed on China.

On August 6, the American newspaper New York Post (NYP) wrote that Trump might not impose new anti-Russian sanctions after the expiration of his ultimatum to the Russian Federation. According to sources, the US presidential administration is "making every effort to conclude a deal."
