Demand for nectarines, peaches and plums has fallen in Russia.
In Russia, the demand for nectarines, peaches and plums has fallen. On August 7, ATOL analysts came to this conclusion after conducting a study of anonymized sales data based on 1.2 million receipts.
Thus, the number of sales of peaches decreased by 18%, plums — by 14%, and nectarines — by 12%. At the same time, apricots, on the contrary, Russians began to buy 17% more.
In May— July 2025, the average price per kilogram of peaches was 189 rubles, which is 34% higher than in 2024. Nectarines also rose significantly in price — the average price per kilogram reached 254 rubles, which is 34% higher than a year earlier.
Apricots increased in price by 9%. The median cost per kilogram was 231 rubles. Plums have become the only popular summer fruit that has fallen in price. The average price per kilogram decreased by 4% and amounted to 189 rubles.
Earlier, on July 31, Igor Balynin, PhD in Economics, associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, said that in August the cost of products for borscht would decrease to 20%. Balynin explained that this is due to cheaper potatoes (by 1.5–2 times), onions and carrots (by 35%), beets (by 20%), as well as sauerkraut and pickles (by 30 and 15%, respectively). Prices for sunflower oil and canned peas will remain stable, but they can be found cheaper thanks to promotions.
