A man was killed in a collision between a tugboat and a small vessel near Astrakhan.

In the Astrakhan region, one person died as a result of a collision between a tugboat pusher "Rechnoy-81" and a small vessel. This was announced on August 5 by the press service of the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

It was previously established that the collision occurred on the morning of August 4, when a pusher tug coupled with two empty barges was moving upstream against the current in the Volga waters near Akhtubinsk.

"One of the barges collided with a small vessel under the control of a man. As a result of the incident, the skipper of the small vessel died at the scene," the Telegram channel says.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of water transport, resulting in the death of a person by negligence"). The investigators examined the scene and ordered the necessary examinations. The circumstances are currently being determined.

Earlier, on June 8, one person died as a result of a boat capsizing on the Don River in the Volgograd region. The man at the controls was drunk. After the capsizing, he and four other passengers, including one child, ended up in the water.
