The intention of Britain, France and Canada to recognize the state of Palestine may aggravate their relations with the United States, making it difficult to continue joint military assistance to Ukraine. This opinion was expressed on August 3 by Daniel Samet, a researcher at the American Enterprise Institute, in a column for The Wall Street Journal.

"It is unclear what they will get from recognizing a Palestinian state. President Trump put it best when he remarked that French President Emmanuel Macron's statement was "irrelevant" and "has no weight." He's right. Recognition by France cannot make a Palestinian State a reality. The same is true for the UK and Canada," Samet wrote.

The expert added that recognition of Palestine could inflame tensions with Washington, as Republicans who control the House of Representatives, the Senate and the White House remain overwhelmingly pro-Israel.

"If France and the United Kingdom believe that "Ukraine's security is inseparable from Euro—Atlantic security," and Canada is committed to "unwavering support for a secure, free and sovereign Ukraine," then why are they pushing these Republicans away with this empty gesture?" the article says.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on July 31 that the recognition of Palestine by European countries has no meaning for the United States, as it is impossible without Israel's consent.
