The world has nothing to replace the volume of oil supplied by Russia, which covers about 10% of global supplies. This was announced on August 2 by Alexei Pushkov, a member of the Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council.

"Indian refineries continue to purchase Russian oil, despite warnings from [US President Donald] Trump on the introduction of large duties in the form of secondary sanctions," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

According to him, Russia supplies about 9.5 million barrels of oil to the world market every day. Pushkov stressed that this is about 10% of the total volume and there is nothing to replace the lack of Russian energy resources.

The New York Times (NYT) newspaper reported earlier in the day that India would continue to buy oil from Russia, despite the threat of sanctions from Trump. According to the NYT, Russia provides more than a third of oil imports to India, which is the second largest importer of Russian energy after China.
