- Trump ruled out the possibility of postponing the introduction of duties after August 1.
The United States will not postpone the imposition of duties on 14 countries scheduled for August 1. This was announced on July 30 by the American President Donald Trump.
"The deadline of August 1 remains unchanged and will not be extended," he wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.
Earlier, on July 28, Trump said that the amount of duties for countries that have not reached a trade agreement with the United States will range from 15% to 20%. He added that the deadline for concluding trade agreements with other countries would be August 1.
The United States and the European Union (EU) agreed on a trade deal on July 28. The agreement will allow the EU to avoid 30% duties that could be imposed by Washington. As a result of the deal, the European Union remains with 15% tariffs on most of its exports, including cars. American goods will be delivered to the European market with a zero duty rate. Trump stressed that such an agreement "satisfies both sides."
