Russia banned the sale of Chinese trucks of four brands
Russia has banned the release into circulation of a number of Chinese truck models of Dongfeng, Foton, FAW and Sitrak brands. On July 30, Rosstandart announced the suspension of Vehicle Type Approvals (OTTS) and Chassis Type Approvals.
Dongfeng type DFH 4180, Foton type BJ4189, FAW type CA4250, CA4180, Sitrak type ZZHS, as well as Foton type M4L chassis were banned. In addition, the issuance of Dongfeng type DFH 5200B, Foton type H5 and FAW type JH6-B 8X4 are prohibited — the documents of conformity of these models were issued in other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The reason for the ban was violations of mandatory requirements identified by Rosstandart, which "pose a significant danger to the health and life of both drivers of vehicles and other road users, including pedestrians," the report says.
Such violations included non-compliance with mandatory requirements regarding the effectiveness of the braking system, the noise level of a moving truck, the identification of controls and the installation of an emergency call device.
Numerous documented violations have also been identified, which relate to seat belt attachment and installation, seats, protection against unauthorized use, emissions, rear safety devices, side safety devices, steering, front anti-rollover devices, and others.
Rosstandart issued a number of instructions to the official representatives of the brands on the need for a recall campaign to eliminate violations. It is emphasized that the sale of vehicles must be suspended, otherwise administrative liability will be applied for violation of the requirement.
The day before, the Russian Interior Ministry said that the information disseminated on the Internet about the ban on the purchase, sale and operation of vehicles with a right-hand drive was not true.
