In the Turkish province of Sirnak, a record temperature for Europe of +50.5 degrees was recorded. This was reported on July 26 by the Turkiye Today newspaper, with reference to the State Meteorological Service of Turkey.

"A new historical temperature record in Europe was set in Turkey on Friday: a temperature of +50.5 degrees was recorded in the southeastern province of Sirnak," the article says.

As noted, the previous record of +48.8 degrees was recorded on the Italian island of Sicily in August 2021.

The newspaper El Tiempo reported on June 30 that record heat was recorded in Spain: the air warmed up to +46 degrees. It is clarified that over the past decade, not only has the number of hot days increased, but also the geography of such anomalies has expanded. This has been especially noticeable in the last 10 years: the heat wave covers the entire territory of Spain and is coming earlier.
