The administration of US President Donald Trump is closing programs to facilitate the relocation of Afghans to the United States. This was reported on July 22 by The Washington Post (WP), citing former and current officials of the United States Department of State and documents.

"The Trump administration is curtailing programs that were created to assist more than 250,000 Afghans in their planned resettlement to the United States," the publication says.

At the same time, it is noted that in order to resettle in the United States, many Afghans need material and logistical support, which was provided by the Department of State Department, which was liquidated under Trump.

Earlier, on July 13, WP wrote that as a result of the reduction in US aid in Afghanistan, the food and health crisis has worsened. Supplies almost completely stopped after Trump returned to the White House in January of this year. The American leader ordered the cancellation of support measures, which, in his opinion, "did not correspond to American interests."
