Armenian believers should stand up for their shrines if Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan decides to attack the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC). This was announced on July 20 by Hayk Ignatian, First vice president of the Tashir Group of Companies, on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

"The current Prime Minister of Armenia, true to his intention to implement his anti-national agenda, announced his intention to organize an attack on Mother Athos and all Catholic Armenians. <...> It is hard to believe that Etchmiadzin is not going to be attacked by Mongol-Tatars, Seljuk Turks or Ottomans, but by our compatriots, our fellow citizens. If this threat becomes a reality, then we, the Armenian Christians, the entire believing people, must become defenders of our shrines," the publication says.

Ignatian also expressed confidence that the Armenians will overcome everything with united strength and faith.

Earlier in the day, Nikol Pashinyan called for preparations to expel Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II (Ktrij Nersisyan) from his residence in Etchmiadzin to the Armenian Apostolic Church. Pashinyan accused Nersisyan of violating the marriage covenant.
