The French authorities, who support the "neo-Nazi Kiev regime," are ready to abandon the traditions of Christianity and the memory of Victory in World War II (WWII). This was announced on Sunday, July 20, by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in her Telegram channel.

The diplomat drew attention to the initiative of French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou, who proposed to cancel two public holidays - Victory Day on May 8 and Bright Monday, which is celebrated by the French on the first day after Easter. Zakharova attributed this to the socio-economic crisis in France and the breakdown of ties with Russia.

According to her, the country's authorities deliberately want to "retouch" symbols significant to French history and culture. She called such a policy "a spit in the face of French veterans" and an example of "progressive Satanism" in France. Zakharova also drew parallels with the anti-Semitic Dreyfus case and the Vichy regime during World War II.

"The authorities in France have said their word: they are ready to sacrifice Christianity and Victory in World War II. I wonder what the Roman Catholic Church and veterans' organizations in France will say to this?" the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.

The Politico newspaper reported on July 17 that Bayrou had sentenced his career to "death" after proposing to reduce government spending by 43.8 billion euros and cancel two holidays in the country. In addition, the article notes that the politician's proposal to eliminate two holidays — Easter Monday and Victory Day in Europe on May 8 — surprised even his supporters. According to the newspaper, some opposition leaders thought it was a hoax.
