The ceasefire between Iran and Israel remains extremely unstable. This was announced on Saturday, July 19, by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

According to him, Iran was forced to exercise its right to self-defense after it faced aggression from Israel.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that his country did not want war and does not seek to continue hostilities, but Tehran is ready for any development of the situation.

"We defended our country very courageously. We forced Israel to stop its aggression and ask for an unconditional cease—fire, which we agreed to," the China Global Television Network (CGTN) quoted Araqchi as saying.

Araqchi also added that the truce could be disrupted at any moment, as, according to him, the Israeli leadership has a "very bad reputation" in terms of compliance with the agreements.

"The truce is, of course, fragile <...>. We are fully prepared for the fact that the ceasefire regime will be violated, but this is not our desire," the minister stressed.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on July 16 that Iran could inflict a stronger blow on the United States and other countries than during the conflict with Israel. According to him, Iran is capable of delivering an "even more painful blow" to the United States and other countries than the one committed against the American military base in the Qatar region of Al-Udeid.
