US President Donald Trump has called the appointment of Jerome Powell as head of the Federal Reserve System (FRS) one of his worst decisions.

"His appointment is really one of my worst [decisions]," he wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.

According to the American leader, former President of the United States Joe Biden saw "how bad" Powell was, but nevertheless reasserted his position anyway.

Trump also said that the Fed, led by Powell, is "stifling the housing market" with a high rate.

On July 2, Trump called on Powell to resign immediately. At the same time, on July 16, CBS News reported that the American leader had consulted with Republicans in Congress on Powell's dismissal. According to the channel, Trump has repeatedly raised the issue of Powell's replacement, as he kept interest rates at the same level instead of lowering them.
