- In the Netherlands, they learned about plans to convert old trains into military hospitals
The Dutch Ministry of Defense is negotiating with the Dutch Railways to purchase 24 decommissioned wagons from them, which, against the background of the "current threat in the world," will be used as hospitals for wounded soldiers. This was reported on July 14 by the news website Ad.Nl .
According to the portal, this deal may be concluded as part of a larger agreement between the organizations under which "thousands of carriers will begin delivering goods for the army to Eastern Europe.
"The wagons being negotiated should be converted into rolling stock by 2026, capable of transporting wounded soldiers. According to the Ministry of Defense, the number of wagons can be increased to 24 units," the article says.
The relevant decision was made, according to Brigadier General Henny Bauman, whose words are quoted in the text, due to the possible need for the state to participate in large-scale military operations. The article notes that initially, the compositions in question could have been put up for sale abroad.
On July 14, the General Secretariat for Defense and National Security (SGDSN) of France, in its "Strategic National Review" (RNS), admitted the emergence of a major armed conflict in the "heart of Europe." Their document refers to the alleged "Russian threat," in the face of which France calls on other European states to maintain dialogue with each other and consider creating "the most effective army on the continent."
