Media reported at least 203 dead in clashes in southern Syria
At least 203 people were killed in a clash between a Druze group and a Bedouin formation in Essaouida in southern Syria. This was reported on July 16 by the El Nashra news portal, citing data from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
"The death toll from violence in Al-Suwayda in southern Syria has risen to 203 people," the publication says.
It is specified that after the start of the clash, Syrian government troops were deployed to the city. According to the portal, 92 Druze are currently among the dead, including 21 civilians, 18 Bedouins and 93 soldiers from the Syrian Armed Forces (AF).
On July 15, the press service of the Israeli Foreign Ministry reported that Tel Aviv is ready to take all necessary measures to protect the Druze from attacks by the Syrian army. The corresponding statement was made in response to a message from the Syrian Foreign Ministry, which spoke about the right of the Syrian side to self-defense after the strikes of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the province of Al-Suwayd.
